William Samuel Cobb 1869-1878
William Samuel Cobb was born in Rhode Island on March 20, 1819. He married Sarah H. Durfee on September 17, 1838. According to the 1865 Census, he was serving as the U.S. Deputy Marshall. He also served as a Captain in the 3rd Regiment, Massachusetts Infantry, Company G on the side of the Union during the Civil War. At the time of his death due to pneumonia on December 7, 1878 his occupation was listed as Jailor, presumably meaning Sheriff.
