Sheriff presides at Graduation Exercise for new class of Correction Officers.

Dartmouth, MA – Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson presented diplomas and badges to 15 graduates of the 25th Correction Officer’s Academy recently in a ceremony held at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fall River.
          Bristol County Sheriff’s Office personnel joined with relatives, parents, and friends of the graduates in an impressive ceremony that featured Posting and Retiring of the Colors by the Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and the administration of the Oath by Sheriff Hodgson to 13 men and 2 women. The graduates completed the 40-hour a week, four-week academy course conducted by instructors from the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office Training Division as well as trainers from Dukes and Plymouth County.
          Sheriff Hodgson offered congratulations to the graduates. He told the audience that the job of a Correction Officer requires a higher level of dedication and a deeper courage that is demanded of anyone else involved in public safety.
          “Bring to your new profession pride and a sense of purpose and you will get in return, the daily chance to make a difference,” Sheriff Hodgson said.
          Some of the training in the academy consisted of defensive tactics, use of force, report writing, ethics, CPR, first aid, suicide prevention, and counseling techniques.
          The new officers are: Staci Andrews, Eric Cardoso, Alexis Cedeno, Jr., Jahira Cruz, Troy DeMoranville, Christopher Foss, Greg Giroux, Jimmie Hunter, Brett Leclerc, Jarrod Levesque, Douglas Macedo, Brendan Manning, David Reyes, Matthew Silva and Eric Tomasia.
