December 28, 2009 - Sheriff Hodgson believes that in this tough economic time, it is most appropriate to donate the department's boat to an entity which could utilize it more...the Swansea Police Department.

"At this time, we just don't have the manpower or resources to use the boat. It will be better utilized by the Swansea Police Department."

On hand to accept the keys and title was Police Chief George Arruda of the Swansea Police Department.

Police Chief Arruda said, "Last year, we did not have a boat to monitor our shellfishing areas. This year, with the help of Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, we now have our own department boat to monitor activities from the water, and allow us to do our job more efficiently and effectively. On behalf of the town of Swansea and the Swansea Police Department, I would like to thank the Sheriff."
